Time for Tea!

I finally felt up to a bit of crafting this afternoon and decided to play with this wee cutie.  It's a digi from Bugaboo, and the perfect image for me as my capacity for tea drinking is legendary!  I decided to paper piece the tea cup and whilst sifting through my A4 papers, which fit in my printer, I happened upon this yummy stack of Papermania Forever Friends Black and Gold papers.  I had originally thought I'd make something more colourful but I couldn't resist the urge to use this pack.  Some of the papers are foiled in gold, which doesn't show up very well in the photos, but looks luscious in reality.  The ribbon, bow and gems are from the same range and the sentiment is from a Forever Friends Best of British stamp set.
All I needed to finish off were some flowers made with Nellie Snellen punches and some gold mirri Card Candi.

Horse Chestnut

I've finally got round to blogging my Monday night make.  It's been a bad week with my fibromyalgia, I'm just getting over a three day migraine so there's not been much crafting going on.  This Monday, after tea and chocolate orange cupcakes, we all made spring cards.  It had been ages since I last made one and I really enjoyed it.  Expect to see more of these soon!
The image I used is a fabulous digi from A Passion For Stamps and it's been coloured with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers.
The papers and Blitters (glitter flowers) are from the Papermania Capsule Collection in Chelsea Green and the leafy border punch is Martha Stewart.

I Love Promarkers GDT Card

Here's my final GDT card for I Love Promarkers, I've really enjoyed my month with them.  This week the challenge theme is "Masculine", so pretty easy peasy.  I was allowed to choose a Digi Doodles image to use and couldn't resist this one.  I used to be a keen horsewoman in the days before fibromyalgia and I still adore these magnificent animals.  This image was a joy to colour with enough detail to keep it interesting, the fine nibs came in handy in places.
The papers are Joanna Sheen Haberdashery, I thought the denim, cord and leather prints were perfect for a man's card.  It's a lovely paper stack with yummy papers for men and women.  The buttons and sentiments are from the pack too, there are so many extras to cut out.  The only thing I had to add was some kraft for matting.

Pastel Puppy

I love making kid's cards, which is just as well because I have to make quite a few.  This one is for a wee girl in Robbie's class at school who will be six soon.  Robbie asked me to make a card for Penny with a dog on it, apparently she's mad keen on them, so I used this adorable free digi from Sliekje, which has been coloured with Promarkers.
The papers are Papermania Tatty Teddy Spring Chic, I love the pretty, pastel shades of this paper stack and they're double sided to boot.  The letter stickers are also Papermania and have been blinged up with some Waterfall Stickles, what little girl doesn't love a bit of glitter!  The sentiment and number stickers are Papermania too, this time ready glittered.
Once again, I've used my Stampin' Up bunting punch, I find it the perfect way to add a child's name, and I've also used a Martha Stewart lacy border punch.

Guitar Hero

This card was one of the commissions that I think all card makers find tricky, a commission from someone you don't know with details given through a friend.  I just hope it fits the bill.  I was asked for a male twenty first card for somebody who plays guitar in a band and she wanted a large card.  I went for an 8x8 card in masculine monochrome.
The guitar topper was cut on my Mum's Silhouette and the rest was a simple mat and layer job with frosty mirri and a panel embossed in grey pearl paper using a music score folder.  The Happy Birthday was done with peel offs and punched circles and the numbers are chipboard which I triple embossed with silver powder.  I resisted temptation to go over board with the embellishments, opting for a few pieces of mirri Card Candi..

Autumn Fairy

Although I hate the fact that the nights are drawing in, I really love the colour palette which comes with the changing of the season.  My eye has always gone to anything orange and I love the warm, rusty tones we are starting to see all around us.
I've had this gorgeous Lili of the Valley stamp for a while now and she'd never seen ink until yesterday, I'm not sure why as she's so lovely.  The sky was done with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, using a hand cut stencil and a dusting brush, then I coloured the image with Promarkers and used Diamond Stickles on her wings for a touch of fairy sparkle.  The sentiment stamp is from a Forever Friends set.
The papers are all magazine freebies which are double sided, perfect for making flowers.  The flower was made with my trusty Tattered Florals die and the leaves were cut with a Spellbinder's die.  The border punch I used is Martha Stewart.
I finished off with my usual ribbon, bow, gems and Pearl Pen.

Digi Haven DT Card

If you are looking for my Fussy and Fancy DT project, it's in the post below.

Here's my second DT post of the morning, this time it's for Digi Haven.  At Digi Haven we are all about using free digis, there are so many wonderful images out there which don't cost a penny, so why not pop over and play along, we have lots of links to great freebies on the blog.  Our theme for this fortnight's challenge is "Harvest", think produce, scarecrows or whatever else you can think of.
The image I chose is from Beccy's Place, she has lots of great free images o choose from. You'll find my image here.  It's been coloured, as ever, with my Promarkers, I had great fun colouring this detailed image.
The patterned papers and buttons are all Papermania Capsule Collection in Sunshine, which I've teamed with kraft and a pop of purple on the image mat.  The leafy border punch is Martha Stewart and the flower was made with Woodware punches.  I inked the petal edges with Wild Honey Distress Ink and added a centre of Flower Soft.  Some raffia and brown gems add to the rustic feel.

Fussy and Fancy DT Card

We have a new challenge starting today over at Fussy and Fancy, this time our theme is "Trip Around The World", so we want to see travel themed projects.
I decided to go with a vintage Parisian easel, the easel is from Pinflair, for my crafty friend, Fiona's, birthday card.  The stamps I used are Papermania Urban stamps, used both the travel sets and the sentiment stamp is from my Portobello Rd set.  I also wanted to have a writing home feel, so I created the background with written letter and postcard stamps, used a sentiment with a postage stamp border and used book print paper behind the sentiment and for the flowers.
After stamping in black onto white card, I went in with Distress Inks in Old Paper and Antique Linen.
Round the edges for the backing panel I used Stampendous embossing enamel in Shabby White, I'm a bit in love with these powders at the moment.  On the Parisian montage topper, I went round the edges with a Versamark pen and then heat embossed with gold powder.
next, it was time to add some girly touches.  I made flowers with a Woodware punch and Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms, added some gold braid, a fabric flower, pearls, gems and a small bow.

For my Gorgeous Sister

It's my wonderful sister, Sine's (pronounced Sheena, it's the Gaelic spelling!) birthday on Monday and this is the card I've made for her, I hope it shows her just how much she means to me.  She's not a crafter so I can share it without any danger of her getting a sneak peek!  It's a tent fold card with a gatefold wrap, you can lift up the main panel to write your message.

This is how it looks on the inside.  I've used a Dearie Dolls free image which is just perfect as, when we were kids, I had long wavy hair and my sis had a bob.  I've coloured this with my usual Promarkers.
The papers are Papermania Boofle teamed with kraft.  Sine is very much a girly girl so I chose pretty colours with cute patterns.  I further girlified it with Candy Pink Stickles, pink gems, gingham ribbon, blue lace, a ton of dew drops and a heart charm.  I also added some eyelets and ribbon so the card can be tied shut and also gave me somewhere to hang the charm.
The Punch Around the Page set is Martha Stewart and the corner details were made with a Marianne die, then embellished with weeny blue pearls.
I hope she likes it!

I Love Promarkers GDT Card

There's a new challenge starting today over at I Love Promarkers, this time they want to see "Occupations".  I've gone for nursing with this too cute Heather Ellis digi.  I'm really enjoying my time as guest designer for this month.
The papers I used are Prima Rosarian, a pack I bought recently and just LOVE, it's lush!  This card was just a mat and layer job with some lace, ribbon, gems and sentiment stamped with a Personal Impressions stamp.  Simples!

Tartan Robin

Here's this weeks make from my Monday night craft session.  I baked cherry bakewell cupcakes to go with our tea, after which we all made robin shaped cards.  I got the idea for this card from a pack of Christmas cards I saw whilst shopping, they had red glitter breasts and had a knitted print for the body.  I made a template to fit on a 6x6 blank and got snipping.
After cutting out the body, I stamped snowflakes in white ink, how well you can see them depends on the light, at some angles they are bright white and at others they are very subtle.  I had a heck of a job to get them to show in the photo!  Next I added some faux stitching with a white pen and stuck on a wing with foam pads.
The breast and sentiment are Papermania, from the Boofle Christmas range, I thought the addition of tartan would make this card perfect to give a Scottish twist to my oversees cards.  All I needed to finish off were a beak and googly eye.
All in all a simple card but I think it's kinda fun!

Cutie Pie DT Card

Morning all!  Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Cutie Pie, we'd love you to play along.  This time we want to see "Shaped Cards".  I really enjoyed this challenge as I tend to get a bit stuck in a rut with square or 5x7 cards, so I dug out this cute cupcake shaped card blank, which I think is Papermania.  Our sponsors this time are Heather Ellis and Sweet stamps which means double the chance to win a prize.  The DT were lucky enough to be given a Heather Ellis digi to play with, I chose this adorable one and coloured her with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, adding a design on her dress with Sakura metallic pens.
The papers I used are all Papermania and are left over from when I made cupcake shaped favour boxes for my sister's wedding, and have been inked with Walnut Stain Distress ink.  The sentiment stamp is from a Magazine freebie set which I use a lot.  I made the flowers and leaves with Woodware punches and topped my cupcake with a heart shaped button threaded with baker's twine.  Some gems and a few blob of Pearl Pen finish it off.

A Festive Scene

I had a lovely afternoon with my Mum, colouring this charming scene.  It's a Michael Powell stamp which has been coloured with Promarkers.  Because the image is so detailed, I decided to keep the rest of the card quite plain, opting for white on white in the end after laying the image on all sorts of different colours and not finding one I liked.  A bow and some gems were the only embellishments I added, resulting in a card that's almost CAS.  Not my usual thing but I rather like it!

Double Aperture Wedding Card

Here's my Monday night with the girls craft session project from this week.  No homebake this week as my lovely hubby had bought me a birthday cake, so we had that with our cuppa before making double aperture cards.  I decided to make mine for my friend, Gosia, who gets married later this month.
I started with two 6x6 cream blanks, which I covered with Wild Rose Studios magazine freebie papers.  I then cut a large heart shaped aperture on the outside, and a smaller one on the next layer down, using Xcut Homespun Hearts dies which I borrowed from my Mum.  I must get some of my own, they're lovely!
Next I added some rolled roses made with Marianne Dies and some bunting made with that poor, overused Stampin' Up punch.  Some dew drops, which were a lovely birthday present, finish the front off.

Some more die cut heats and a message stamped with an Anita's stamp decorate the next layer down.

On the inside, I added a topper made with an oh so cute Lili of the Valley stamp, coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and a couple of punched butterflies with Pearl Pen trails.

I Love Promarkers GTD Card

Here's my second guest design team card for I Love Promarkers, this time the theme is "Cooking".  This theme is rather apt for me as, if I'm not crafting, I'm usually cooking or baking, in fact I made a pizza for tea last night!  I, however, don't have a large moustache! 
The image I've used is a freebie from Dustin Pike, I love his digis and there are so many free ones if you scroll through his blog.
The papers are It's a Man's World by Papermania, this is my second pack of them as I totally finished the first pack up.  How often does that happen?!  They're a great mix of male themed papers in a good selection of colours and designs.
The sentiment is from a magazine freebie stamp set, the loopy punch is Martha Stewart and the stars were made with Xcut dies.  Two different Portobello Rd ribbons and some Card Candi finish it off.

Have a "Cherry" Good Day

I've had this sweet stamp for a wee while and hadn't got round to inking it up until now.  Why do I keep buying stamps?!  I've got so many but I love them all!  I had to have this one because of my appreciation of a good cuppa, my capacity for tea drinking is legendary!
The bear has been coloured with Promarkers and the teapot has been paper pieced, then glittered with Stickles in Waterfall and Star Dust.  All the papers used are from a Forever Friends paper stack, including the fussy cut cakes, and the ribbon is Forever Friends too.  The cute border punch is a Martha Stewart one and the sentiment is from a Creative Expressions stamp set.
A few red gems for cherries finish my card off.

White On White Wedding

I was lucky enough to get a Grand Calibur for my birthday yesterday so I just had to get it out of the box for a play!  Thanks dear Hubby, you are a star!  I don't have any grand dies yet, so I borrowed some from my crafty bud, Alison, she lent me circles and scalloped circles to test drive my new machine.  I LOVE it, it gives such a crisp cut.  The heart shape was cut with an Xcut Homespun heart die and decorated with some punched flowers with pearl centres.  I then created a circle of weeny punched flowers and finished off with a large, white bow and tiny blobs of pearl Pen.

Digi Haven DT Card

Morning crafters!  If, like me, you love playing with free digis, why not pop on over to Digi Haven where our new challenge is "Feathers and/or Fins".  To play along you must use a free digi, there are loads of links to some yummy free images on the Digi Haven blog.  We would love for you to come and join us.
The image I've chosen is actually a colouring page from Fantasy Colouring Pages, drawn by Ina Jane, which I've just shrunk down to card topper size instead of a full page.  She was great fun to colour, which I have done with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, as the image is so detailed.  I lost myself in my own crafty world with my pens for ages!
The splodgy backing paper was created with Distress Inks in Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers which I sprayed with water, dried and then dropped some water on to make a mottled, water effect.
The mat the topper is sitting on is made from patterned paper with a layer of bright blue organza on top, it doesn't show up too well in the photo but it is there!  I also added some torn strips of pale blue organza for a watery texture, I'm quite pleased with how it looks, watch out for more organza adorned cards in the future!
The sentiment stamp is from a Personal Impressions set and I finished my card with a ton of gems and pearls.

Funky Monkey!

Here's a card I made for a friend of my son's who will be six at the weekend.  I always struggle with boy's cards but I really like this funky monkey, who has been coloured, unsurprisingly, with Promarkers.  He's a freebie from Dustin Pike, you can find him here.  There is also a coloured option and a printable decoupage set.  It always amazes me just how many lovely freebies are out there.
The checked papers are from Papercellar which I decided to team with kraft and a big splash of red.  The number was stamped with a Papermania stamp and then cut out, and the stars were cut with Xcut dies.  I wheeled out my favourite Stampin' Up bunting punch once again and added Papermania letter stickers to spell out the birthday boy's name.
The finishing touches are some spotty buttons, some brown gems and a few blobs of Pearl Pen.

GDT Card for I Love Promarkers

I'm so excited to be picked as a guest designer for the I Love Promarkers challenge blog for the month of September.  For the challenge, which starts today, we want to see "Bunting".  We are sponsored this time by Lili of the Valley so I used one of their cute baby stamps for my card.  Friends of ours have just had a lovely baby girl so this card is on the way to them.
The cute topper was coloured with Promarkers and inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.
The easel card is made from two Craftwork Cards shaped blanks and the papers I used are Papermania Tulip and Hot Diggedy Dog along with some mulberry type paper which was actually used to wrap a gift I recently received.
I made the bunting with my much used Stampin' Up punch and added jewelled glittered letter stickers from The Works.
The embossing on the mat and stopper element was done with a Papermania Boofle embossing folder and the punched lace was made with a Martha Stewart punch.  The flowers were made with  Nellie Snellen punches and the leaves made with a Woodware Punch.
The sentiment is from a Forever Friends set and the final touches are a velvety, pink, hand brad and some pink gingham ribbon.

A Little Bit Of Oriental

Last night was craft night with the girlies and this week, after tea and carrot and pistachio cake, we made cards with an oriental flavour.
I've been at my old Papermania oriental papers again in a bid to try to use up some older stash, I love the vibrant colours of these ones against the black mats.
The stamp is an old favourite by Personal Impressions, I've had her a while and never get bored of playing with her.  Last time I coloured her I used very muted colours so I decided to go bold and bright this time, colouring with my usual Promarkers and Flexmarkers.  I added some detail to the kimono with Sakura metallic pens and a Pearl Pen.  I also added a touch of glitter to the flowers on the fan with Star Dust Stickles.
The lanterns are gold peel offs which have been stuck onto patterned paper and cut out, I'm quite pleased with how they look even although they're peel offs!
The finishing flourishes on this one are my trademark ribbon and bow, along with a tag, gems and glitter domes.

Cutie Pie DT Card

We have a new challenge over at Cutie Pie starting today, this time we want you to make something with "No Flowers".  Why not pop on over and join the fun?!
We are sponsored by Bugaboo for this challenge and the DT were lucky enough to get an image to play with, which I've coloured with Promarkers and added Star Dust Stickles to the wings.  The jar, sentiment and ladybird stamps are all from a SeeDee stamp set (remember those?!).  I gave the jar a hint of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink round the edges to add some dimension.

Digi Haven DT Card

I was so pleased to be asked to be a guest designer for Digi Haven for the current monthly challenge which is "Anything Goes", and then I was delighted and amazed that I was asked to become a full DT member!  I've been playing along with most of the challenges since the Digi Haven blog started, so, of course I jumped at the chance to join the DT. All you have to do to play along is to use a free digi, there are loads of links on the site to free images of all sorts, and hey, who doesn't like a freebie?!  I certainly do and I'm slowly amassing a huge collection!
This lil' cutie is from Sliekje, she has some gorgeous images, all of them free, I'm a massive fan of them.  You can find the one I used here, but do have a browse through them all as there are so many to choose from.
I coloured most of the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and paper pieced the kimono with two different papers.  I then added a silky lustre to the front panels, where the kimono opens, with a Sakura Pen and some Aqua Stickles.
The papers are all Papermania Oriental, from a collector's pack, as are the tag and photo corners.  I've had it lurking in my stash for ages, I'm not sure why I don't used it more often as the bright colours and bold colours are very much up my street.
I finished my card with a coin charm, some baker's twine, a bow and some pink and blue pearls.
