A Gem of a Challenge DT Card - Winter Wonderland

We have a festive challenge for you this week at A Gem of a Challenge, this time our theme is "Winter Wonderland".  I've used three of Janet's cute new penguin digis, made them all different sizes, and merged them together to make one image, which I then coloured with Promarkers, adding Ultra Fine Flower Soft to the hat trim and Liquid Pearls for snow.
This card is for a friend's children to give their grandparents, the tree penguins represent the three boys, with baby Ebyn in the middle.  This is another 8x8 card, I seem to be making a lot of these at the moment, I wanted a nice large image to take centre stage on this one, so I've gone for a white on white backdrop, apart from some red bunting, made with a Joy die, with Oma and Papa stamped on the flags.
I embossed some Centura Pearl card with an Embossalicious plaid folder for a bit of texture, then layered some white ribbon, and some snowflakes cut with Die'sire dies from glitter paper, under the topper, before sticking it down.  I then finished with a white organza bow, small snowflakes made with a Nellie Snellen punch, and baker's twine bows.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Jellypark - Christmas
QKR Stampede - #66 - It's Starting to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Happy Birthday Dad

It's my Dad's 70th birthday today, he's having a big party tonight to celebrate, so it'll be gladrags on as I make a rare outing in a dress and heels!  Here's the card I made for him.
I don't think I've ever made a CAS easel before, I quite like how this one has turned out.  The image is a Kanban stamp which I've coloured with Distress Markers and a water brush.  The stamped strip, was simply masked off with masking tape, then stamped in black with a variety of nautical stamps from two different Kanban stamp sets.  A computer generated sentiment, garden twine with a sailing boat charm, and a splash of red from the mats, and that's my card done.

Christmas Blessings

I had fun with my Pan Pastels creating the evening sky on this one, I love the pretty colours, and you should have seen the state of my fingers once I'd finished sponging!
This is a large, 8x8 card, which gives you an idea of how large the die cut stable scene is.  It was made with a Joanna Sheen Signature die, which cut beautifully, even without wax paper, I love the intricate scroll design on the stable roof.  I stamped a gold star and heat embossed with gold powder above my nativity scene, then filled it in with Gold Halo Mix glitter, which has to be the glitziest glitter ever.
For the matting and layering, I've used black pearl paper with silver Christmas carol words on from Craftwork Cards, alongside purple mirri and satin board.  I then layered up some gorgeous gold mesh ribbon and some purple Christmas ribbon, and added a big, luxurious bow to match.
The sentiment was computer generated and die cut into a tag shape, I finished it with a giant gold pearl.  A few purple gems are the final touch.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

I Love Promarkers DT Card - Anything Goes

It's challenge time again at I Love Promarkers, this week it's everyone's favourite theme of, "Anything Goes", and we're sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps.  The DT were lucky enough to get an image to play with, I chose this super cute image, called Sweet Pea, which was such fun to colour with my Promarkers.
The oh so pretty papers are Lili of the Valley, Perfect Pair, one of the six LOTV pads I bought at the SECC, I've had itchy fingers to use them and I think they work perfectly with this image.  Surprisingly, I don't have many papers in a nice, candy pink in my fairly massive paper stash, so this stack really caught my eye, especially as pink and green is my favourite ever colour combo.
The baby girl sentiment stamp is from a Buzzcraft set, I've added some gems to it, and the personalised sentiment on the stopper element was computer generated.
To embellish my girly card, I added an organza bow, punched flowers, pink ribbon, green pearls and pink gems.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Country Style Wreath

It's those Papermania, Christmas in the Country papers putting in an appearance again, I cant get enough of them at the moment!  This card is a customer order for someone (a friend) to give to her in-laws, who live on the west coast of the Highlands of Scotland, I hope they'll like the plaid fabric look of these papers and the homespun look of the wreath.  I've met them a few times, and I don't think they'd go for elaborate, fussy designs, I'm hoping this will fit the bill nicely.
Sorry about the dodgy photo, my cheapo camera, really struggles in poor light, and it's been so miserable and wet here that it hardly seems to have get light at all, I've had the lights on all day.  The macro setting isn't great at the best of times, but focus is even more difficult in dim light.
The wreath was made with my fabby Spellbinders die set, it really does make the most glorious wreaths, I haven't done it justice this year, but it'll keep, and I'm sure to wheel it out year after year.  It does come with a bow die as part of the set, but I decided to embellish mine with a gingham ribbon bow, I also added some red gems for a touch of bling.  The only other embellies I needed were some twine threaded buttons, and a Craftwork Cards sentiment, which says, "Warm Wishes".
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Kaboodle Doodles - #198 - Buttons and Twine
Suzy Bee's - #4 - Add Buttons
Totally Papercrafts - #194 - Add a Bow

Cutie Pie DT Card - Create a Cute Scene

It's challenge time once again at Cutie Pie, this time our theme is "Create a Cute Theme", and we're sponsored by Stamp and Create.  I've created my scene by stamping with a rubber stamp, making a post-it note mask, then adding in clouds using a hand cut mask, a dusting brush and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, then over-stamping with a tree stamp using Pine Needles Distress Ink.
The main image is a Lili of the Valley stamp, which I've coloured with Promarkers, adding Ultra Fine Flower Soft to the hat trim for a fluffy finish.  The tree stamp is from a Papermania Forever Friends set from a few years ago.  I finished my frosty scene with some Liquid Pearls for snow.
The papers are Papermania, Christmas in the Country, I just love the cosy homespun feel to this pack, I've added some faux stitching with a white pen.
To embellish, I've added some pompom trim, gingham ribbon, a bow, buttons, and a computer generated sentiment which I've die cut into a tag shape and decorated.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Passion for Promarkers - #252 - Check it Out

Rockin' Wreath

Another customer order, I've been really busy with these since setting up my business.  I'm hoping to add some gift items to the website in the new year, I've been learning felt making, but I've been so busy with card orders I haven't had a chance to play with it much yet, once Christmas is out of the way, watch this space!
I've raided my fabulous Lucy Cromwell A4 Ultimate Pack for the papers, "With Love" tag and wreath decoupage topper, finishing the decoupage with Anita's 3D Gloss and Star Dust Stickles.
I made the rocker card with grand nesties, and embellished with lengths of ribbon, a computer generated sentiment, and a border of alternating clear gems and gunmetal nail heads.

Digi Haven DT Card - Thanksgiving or Thank You

It's challenge time again at Digi Haven, this time out theme is, "Thanksgiving or Thank You" and we're sponsored by the wonderful Beccy Muir of Beccy's Place.  Beccy has a shop full of gorgeous digis, as well as a huge number of free images, such as the one I've used on my card, you'll find it here.
I've gone for a bit of a twist on the thanksgiving theme, choosing Psalm 106 as my inspiration.  I computer generated the sentiment, adding tiny gems to emphasise the Lord's name.
Using just one patterned paper is quite unusual for me, this one is My Mind's Eye, I've used an EK Success punch along one edge to add a bit of interest to my simple layout.  More texture was needed, so I added some wide satin ribbon and a large bow, topped with a smaller twine bow, then I stuck on a twine threaded chunky button to continue the homespun look.
I coloured the bucket of flowers with my usual Promarkers, then fussy cut it out, raising it up with foam pads on the card.  A few coloured pearls give a pretty finish.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Milk Coffee - Thanksgiving / Thankful

Papertake - Giving Thanks

I Love Promarkers DT Card - Wedding or Anniversary

It's that time of the week again when we have a new challenge for you at I Love Promarkers, this time we have the romantic theme of "Wedding or Anniversary" and we're sponsored by Inky Impressions.
I've used some of my new goodies from last month's SECC spend up, the stamp and papers are both from Lili of the Valley, I've had itchy fingers to play with them so this week's theme was perfect for me!  The image has, of course, been coloured with Promarkers, and I've added some Star Dust Stickles for bridal sparkle too.  I created a frame for the image with assorted bling, filling in round the edge with yet more Star Dust Stickles.
The sentiment stamp is from a Buzzcraft set, I like the funky font, I think it goes rather well with the sketchy style of the image.  I've added even more Stickles round the edge of the sentiment and dotted the "i" with a gem, this card certainly is heavy on the sparkle!
I've further embellished with organza ribbon, a bow, green pearls and some flowers made with a new Nellie Snellen punch.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Festive Baubles

We had our usual craft night last night, this week we all played with heat embossing, using a set of magazine freebie stamps, which match my Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments dies.  Here's what I came up with.
I used red, hammered, metallic card for the baubles, and embossed with three different powders, then die cut the shapes with the matching dies.  The snowflake mat was created with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set, then it was just a mat and layer job, using foam pads to raise the base layer from the card, and to raise the baubles up, to give depth to an otherwise simple card.  I used some nice, chunky baker's twine to "hang" my decorations, embellishing with bows, and I finished my card with pearls.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Sparkle 'n' Sprinkle - Anything Goes with Glitter, Embossing Powder or Flock
My Time to Craft - #243 - Baubles

I've Taken a "Viking" to You!

Another 70th birthday card for my Dad, this one's for his partner to give him.  She's getting his DNA analyzed for his birthday present, something he's always wanted, and, as he's a quarter Norwegian, there's a good chance there will be a good dose of Norse DNA in there, hence the viking themed card.
The image is actually a kid's colouring page I downloaded free, it's been coloured with my usual Promarkers, and attached to the card with a spring for movement, so my marauding viking actually marauds!
The stepper card was made from heavy weight brown card using a B-C-E template, I used Kanban, Mechanica papers for the matting and layering.  Both the sentiments were computer generated.
To embellish, I added some knotted twill ribbon, gold mirri Card Candi, and brown pearls.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Ladybug Crafts - Autumn Colours

Inspired by Pormeirion

I've been playing with my new Distress Markers again, now that I have the full set, and I just love using them with a water brush, it's great fun getting back to my watercolour roots.
This card is for my sister to give our Dad for his 70th birthday.  He's a big fan of the village of Portmeirion, in north Wales, and has stayed there on several occasions, so I thought this card, inspired by the village would be perfect for him.
Portmeirion is full of views like this, it's a photographer's dream, it's based on the Italian town of Porto Fino, you really wouldn't believe you're in Wales!
The stamp I've used is a Papermania Michael Powell one, I love the quirky, sketchy style of his artwork, it lends itself rather well to watercolour I think.
I've used mustard card to make the zigzag card base, then matted it up with Core'dinations from the Tim Holtz Distress collection, embossed with a variety of folders, and sanded gently to reveal the core and emphasize the designs.  I've added a white panel to the back of the card for the message to be written.
The little pockets at the front hold tags, one says, "Happy Birthday", and the other says, "70th".  They were die cut with tag dies, I then set eyelets at the top and threaded them with green ribbon.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Fussy and Fancy DT Card - Brown and Cream

It's challenge time again at Fussy and Fancy, this time our theme is the colour combo of, "Brown and Cream", a classic combination suitable for almost any occasion.  I've made a sympathy card, using dark, chocolate brown and a lovely, rich cream colour.
I've used an embossing folder to create the tree design, it's a Crafts Too one I think, I rubbed it with gold gilding wax to highlight the design, and it really shimmers beautifully, I just couldn't capture it with my camera.
The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set, I think the words are lovely for a sympathy card.
I've used punches to add a bit of interest to my fairly simple card, a corner inverter at the top, and a Martha Stewart leafy border punch along the bottom, some ruffled ribbon adds some texture, and I've finished off with a few pearls.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

I Love Promarkers DT Card - Red and Green

It's challenge time again at I Love Promarkers, this week our theme is "Red and Green", and there's double the chance to win as we have two sponsors this time, Di's Digis, and Visible Image.
I've gone with the obvious, and made a Christmas card in traditional red and green colours, using Papermania Capsule Collection Midi Spots papers that I picked up at a bargain price in Hobby Craft.
The image is actually two Pink Gem digis, layered up in Word, coloured with my Promarkers of course, then highlighted with Stampendous glitter, ultra fine Flower Soft, and Ice Diamond, for lots of snowy, icy, and fluffy textures.
I made the poinsettia with Marianne dies, and finished my card with a Craftwork Cards sentiment, green pearls, red satin ribbon and baker's twine.

Gingerbread Gift Boxes

It was our usual girly craft night last night, and this week we all made little pizza style gift boxes.  I used some free papers and chipboard shapes that came free with Papercraft Inspirations magazine to decorate mine.
I've used Martha Stewart punches on the strips of paper on the sides of the boxes and added gems and pearls to decorate the lids, the chipboard shapes were already glittered.
The candles in the top box are sugar and spice scented to reflect the gingerbread theme, they smell really yummy!
The mini candy canes in the bottom box came from Poundland, you get a box of 36 for a pound, they're all individually wrapped too.  I managed to fit a dozen in the box.  I haven't seen such small candy canes before, they're really cute, and I love how they match the backing paper I've used. I've got enough left to fill another two boxes, I'll have to get busy and make some more!

Cutie Pie DT Card - Little Cuties

It's challenge time once again at Cutie Pie, and this time our theme is, "Little Cuties", or in other words, projects for babies or very young children.  We're sponsored this fortnight by Stitchy Bear, who are offering a digi prize to our winner.
I decided to make a baby's first Christmas card using this super cute Pink Gem digi, you'll find it in the store here.  It's been coloured, as always, with Promarkers, and I've added some Polar White Flower Soft to the baby's hat and the furry stocking top to give a soft and fluffy texture.
The pretty papers have been lurking in my stash since Adam was a boy, I'll be gutted when they're all used up as they're perfect for girly Christmas cards.
I've embellished with some organza ribbon, a bow, some pink gems, and some holly made with a Spellbinders die.

Monochrome Birds

I seem to have a lot of orders in for 70th birthday cards at the moment, this one is for a man who loves bird watching.  "Shen" means Grandad in Gaelic.  My CAS loving husband thinks this is the nicest card I've made in ages, probably because it's not laden with embellishments as most of my cards are!
The sentiment was computer generated, and the word "Shen" was die cut with Spellbinders dies, I bought the alphabet set at the SECC and this was this first time I'd used it, I have to say that I love the font.
I created my own backing paper using Artemio feather stamps and London Fog Memento ink, after masking off the sentiment with a post-it note.  The bird stamps are Artemio too, but from a different set, this time stamped in black in and fussy cut.  I added two borders of grey, satin ribbon, and perched the trio of bird along the top one.  A group of three grey pearls top and bottom finish my monochrome card.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

A Gem of a Challenge DT Card - Gems, Gems, Gems

It's Saturday, so it's challenge time again at A Gem of a Challenge, where our theme this week is, "Gems, Gems, Gems", so nice and easy to play along.  I've gone for a seasonal card for this challenge, celebrating the splendour of autumn.  Although I hate the dark nights, I really love the beauty of this season, especially the rich, warm colours, and decided to make a card to reflect this.
I've used Autumn Bella for my card, she's fairly new to the Pink Gem shop, and she was a delight to colour with my Promarkers.  Janet has been busy designing lots of new digis, including plenty for Christmas, pop on over to the shop for a look, and don't forget that there's always a freebie on offer too.
The papers are Lili of the Valley, Country Lady, an SECC purchase, as were the shaped blank, cross charm, and Our Daily Bread sentiment stamp.  The leaves were made with an Xcut punch, and arranged on the card as if they were being blown across it.  I finished with a scattering of assorted gems in autumnal colours.

Digi Haven DT Card - Fall

It's challenge time once again at Digi Haven, this fortnight we have the seasonal theme of "Fall" or "Autumn", if you're from this side of the Atlantic, and we're sponsored by Floppy Latte.  The DT were given a set of sponsor digi sentiments to work with, but you can use a digi image to play along if you prefer.
I created the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a hand cut cloud mask, and the grass was made with torn Core'dinations.  I then cut the leafy canopy with my Memory Box die, which I bought a wee while back and hadn't used.........oops!  I inked a piece of mustard card with assorted autumnal coloured Distress Inks, and spritzed lightly to blend a bit.  After drying with a heat tool, I stuck it behind the canopy to give the leaves a variegated look.  Next, I cut a twiggy tree with a matching Memory Box die and glued it into place.  I decided to cut out a few coloured leaves from yellow and orange cardstock to scatter on the ground under the tree, well it is an autumn scene after all.  Finally, I added the sentiment, cutting a fishtail in one end, and raising the middle with foam pads to give the banner a wavy appearance.  A trio of bronze gems finish it off.

On the Fiddle!

Another customer order, this one's for a seventieth birthday for a man who loves Scottish folk music and who plays the fiddle.
I made a ribbon wreath with tartan ribbon as the main feature, and sewed on a cute, wooden fiddle button to secure the ends together.
I made my own backing paper using the new Papermania music stamps, borrowed from my friend, Donna, I think I'm going to have to invest in these, and the matching dies at some point as I can see them being very useful, especially on men's cards.  I stamped using Tea Dye Distress Ink, deliberately going for a splodgy look.  I then went round the edges of the paper with Broken China Distress Ink to pick up the blue in the ribbon.
Inside the wreath, I used a piece of card which has been embossed with an inked music score embossing folder from Craft Concepts.  The letters and numbers are Papermania cardstock stickers and I finished of with some small buttons and Card Candi in the corners.

I Love Promarkers DT Card - All That Glitters

It's challenge time at I Love Promarkers, this week our theme is, "All That Glitters", and we're sponsored by Hobby Book and Marianne, so that's double the chance to win!
I've used an Imagination Crafts stamp for my card, this one is borrowed from my Mum, we have a dozen of these stamps between us, they're so versatile and perfect for lots of different techniques, but I've just coloured with Promarkers this time and added Glamour Dust to the edges of the rose petals, and salmon pink glitter round the edges of the topper.  Few tiny pearls added to the background of the topper add to the quilted look.
The papers are Lili of the Valley, Country Lady, I bought them at the SECC and couldn't wait to chop into them, I thought the rose design papers went rather nicely with this stamp, and the muted colours are beautiful.
The flowers were made with Nellie Snellen punches, and the flourishes with a Marianne die.  The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards, and I've finished off with a pearl in each corner.
